It's Hard Being A Teen

June Top 5

Hey readers…

It’s almost the end of June so I thought I’d do another top 5 post, on everything I’ve been loving this month and last.  I am slowly getting back into the routine of blogging again. It’s holidays next week so hopefully by the end of them I will be a lot better. Prices are in AUD.

1. Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Nuit Blanche Perfume

I love love love this. It smells so good. Sweet and sexy, perfect for a night out. It stays on forever. Plus the packaging is beautiful! It’s relatively expensive at $99 for 30mL, $165 for 50mL and  $218 for 90mL. Although as I mentioned in the beginning, prices are in AUD and everything is overpriced here. Will I buy more when it runs out? Definitely.

2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer

This concealer is amazing. The formula is great, really easy to blend and it doesn’t crease. The coverage is buildable and it is very long lasting. It costs $44 at Mecca for 6.5mL.

3. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip ~ Alyssa

If you read my Colourpop Makeup Haul you would have seen this. I’ve been wearing this all the time. I reach for this everytime I do my makeup, not because it’s called Alyssa but because the formula is amazing. It doesn’t dry out my lips and it’s the perfect pinky-nude. I love it so much.

4. Colourpop Pressed Powder Shadow ~ Come and Get It.

This one is another one you would’ve seen if you read my Colourpop Makeup Haul. I didn’t expect to love this one as much as I do. I wear this a lot too. On days where I’m wearing very natural makeup just on my lid and then in the center of my lid when I’m doing a more intense look. I love the rose gold and the formula is amazing.

5. By Terry Baume de Rose

I hate that I love this. I got a sample of this in my Mecca Beauty Loop Sample Box post and as I said in that, if I like it I will have to thing long and hard about buying it again. It’s been two months, I’ve completely used the sample and I catch myself reaching for what isn’t there. I honestly loved this and I need someone to convince me to spend $78 on it. It did an amazing job of hydrating my lips, they were always so soft after using it and it smelt amazing!

Thank you for reading. Hopefully I’ll have another post up this week.

Makeup and Outfits

Hey readers…

So it’s been a while… a month actually. I’d like to apologise. Honestly I wish I had been consistent with my posting in the last month but I just couldn’t. I would’ve liked to but I needed a break. I had to get myself sorted out before I even thought of posting again. I don’t want this to happen again. I like blogging and it’s a really nice way for me to relax, so I’m going to try my hardest to get back on track with this. It may take a while so bare with me but I think I will get there eventually. Today’s post is nothing special, just some of the makeup and outfits that I have done while I’ve been gone. I won’t go into lots of detail, probably just pictures with a caption for the outfits so if you’re curious about anything, leave a comment below or Contact Me.

Colourpop Makeup Haul

Hey readers…

A couple of weeks ago, I made a pretty big order on Colourpop because I felt like it. It has finally come and I thought I would show you what I got. Prices are in USD.

I will post swatches of everything down below so if that’s all you want to see then scroll to the end.

Eyeshadow Blending Brush

Price – $6. This blending brush feels very firm and I think it will blend out eyeshadows really nicely.

Super Shock Highlighter ~ Wisp

Price – $8. This pearlized highlighter is a really pretty dark bronze/gold colour. It comes with 4.2g/0.15 Oz of product which is a lot, it’s very pigmented and I’m very impressed by it.

Super Shock Highlighter ~ Frosted

Price – $8. This one is exactly the same except it’s a lighter gold colour. Again, extremely pigmented.

Super Shock Highlighter ~ Whipped

Price – $8. This is a tie dye highlighter and I think it’s my favourite. Pink, gold, bronze, it’s so pretty.

Pressed Powder Shadow ~ Come and Get It

Price – $5. This is just a standard pressed powder eyeshadow. 1.5g/0.05 Oz of product. It’s a rose gold colour and I will be buying a Z-Palette soon to put it in.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Weenie

Price – $5. All of these super shock eyeshadows that I bought are very pigmented. They have 2.1g/0.07 Oz of product. This one is a slighter darker metallic rose gold colour.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Cornelius

Price – $5. This one is a light matte brown to use as a transition shade in my crease.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Moonshine

Price – $5. This one is a dark brown glitter shade with yellow/gold reflects.

Super Shock Shadow ~  Hot Tamale

Price – $5. This one has a satin finish. It is a dark brown with a slight red tinge.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Prickly Pear

Price – $5. This is one a brown/purple glitter shadow.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Birthday Girl

Price – $5. Another glitter finish. A light brown/gold/silver shade.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Cheap Date

Price – $5. Glitter again. This one is a yellow/gold shade.

Super Shock Shadow ~ Valley Girl

Price – $5. Cream/white shade with a satin finish. I will be using this as a brow bone highlight and inner-corner highlight.

Crème Gel Liner ~ HoneyDude

Price – $5. 0.2g/0.01 Oz of product. Just a standard nude/yellow pencil eyeliner. I will use this in my waterline.

Ultra Matte Lip ~ Wild Nothing

Price – $6. 3.2g/0.11 Oz of product. A red/brown shade. From what I have heard, these lipsticks do not transfer and they are completely matte so I’m very interested to see how this goes. I accidentally bought two of these so I will have to figure out what to do with one of them.

Ultra Matte Lip ~ Viper

Price – $6. Basically just a typical dark purple colour.

Ultra Matte Lip ~ Are N Be

Price – $6. This one is very similar to Viper but it is a darker purple.

Ultra Satin Lip ~ Double Tap

Price – $6. This one is a beige-nude with a satin finish.

Ultra Satin Lip ~ Alyssa

Price – $6. Obviously I had to get this one. It’s named after me. I actually really like the colour too. It’s a pinky-nude and it’s my favourite lipstick I bought.

Price – $5. 1.0g/0.0352 Oz of product. This is a lipstick in a very similar shade to Viper.

Lippie Stix ~ Kapish

13 Reasons Why

Hey readers…

Netflix original show, 13 Reasons Why. You’ve either seen it or you’ve heard about it. Maybe you’ve seen all the controversy around it and want to watch it for yourself and make an opinion of it. If that’s the case, I will try not to spoil too much.

I binged watched in a couple of days as soon as it came out and it was intense. I will admit, I did have to stop watching it multiple times because it was a little too upsetting to watch. I know that some people believe that it is not appropriate for some people to watch especially people who are contemplating suicide because it shows them what life would be like after they killed themselves. Some people also believe that it just isn’t something that should be shown on Netflix because of the topics it shows. However, I disagree. I disagree completely. 13 Reasons Why realistically demonstrated rape, self harm and suicide. They didn’t put a barrier on it and they didn’t romanticise it. It showed the truth of what happens and it allows viewers to really understand the impact that words and actions can have.

For those of you reading this and trying to decide whether or not to watch it, do it. Seriously, these issues are so real in today’s society through bullying, trauma and mental illness. It needs to be talked about. I believe there is no use in hiding it and covering it up, so many people could be helped if we stop treating it like someone seeking attention rather than someone who needs help. I will say one thing before moving on, if you are struggling with rape, self harm or suicide and you are thinking about watching this, think carefully. There are warnings at the beginning of some episodes indicating that there could be something triggering involved. Do not take those warnings lightly. Even though I knew what was coming, it was still extremely triggering for me to watch.

Now, not completely related to 13 Reasons Why but, about a week or two ago I learnt about the ‘game’ ‘Blue Whale’ that originated in Russia. I have been seeing more and more news around it lately and it has reached Australia and New Zealand. I am urging you not to play it please. If you have no idea what I am talking about, it is an app that you download onto your phone. It hacks it and you get sent 50 tasks to complete over 50 days. You have to complete self harming tasks and then eventually to win the game you are told to commit suicide. The app has been removed off the app store and off google play as far as I am aware. If you see this app anywhere please report it to the police. This is not something to joke about and teens have already been affected by it.

Thank you for reading. If you can’t already tell, I am very passionate about these topics and I believe it is something that desperately needs to be talked about.

A Day In My Life – School Day

Hey readers…

Today I thought I would write about what a typical day in my life involves during the week. I will have another one up later on a typical weekend.

Anyway, as you know, unfortunately I am still at school until the end of this year so that means early starts, lots of coffee and boredom. Most days my alarm goes off at 7:30am. I have perfected the art of getting ready in half an hour which is great. Most mornings I will lie in bed for as long as possible trying to come up with a way out of school – it barely works. Dad normally makes me get out of bed at 7:40am. First thing I do is put my uniform on and then reality kicks in and I realise I’m going to be stuck in that for a lot longer than I would like. I pack my school bag and take my water bottle out of the fridge. Some of you are probably thinking, what about lunch and breakfast? Well, I don’t take lunch to school. Yes it’s bad not to. Yes I should but I don’t get hungry at school. If I do there is always the overpriced canteen. Most days I can leave and go home at lunch time anyway so it’s not too big of an issue. And I don’t breakfast. Yes it is bad too. Sometimes Dad makes me a coffee and sometimes I buy one on the way to school because I cannot function without coffee. Anyway, depending on how late I am and how I’m feeling I may put on makeup and brush my hair. Honestly, I’ve given up on that. My hair just goes up in a bun unbrushed and I may even put on a little bit of primer/moisturiser but normally I don’t bother. However, if I do want to make an effort, I will brush my hair and put on some makeup.

Literally just some primer, tinted moisturiser, concealer if I need it, translucent powder, matte bronzer, blush, a tiny bit of highlighter, eyebrow powder, mascara, lip balm and some setting spray. Compared to what I would normally wear, it’s not that much.

Then I will brush my teeth, put on some perfume and leave at 8:10am. On a good day it takes me 10 minutes to drive to school so I have a good 5 minutes to walk in and maybe say hello to a few friends before the bell rings.

Then I suffer at school for too long. Have a look at My Subjects if you want to see what I do. At lunch time I will either go home, go out with friends for an hour or we will sit down and talk.

After school I drive home, watch some Netflix then do some study by myself and then some with Dad. Of course if I have assessments to do, I will do them. I also like to draft new blog posts so I can stay on top of them. I have dinner and then if I have no homework to finish I will have a shower and talk to Caleb. I try to sleep before midnight every night but of course that barely ever happens.

Thank you for reading.

Top 5 Social Media Apps

Hey readers…

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday. I had every intention to but Supergirl called and I had to answer. Anyway, today’s post is my top 5 favourite social media apps.

1. Facebook

This is my favourite app, mostly for personal reasons. I use messenger to stay in contact with my friends in New Zealand mostly, sometimes to talk to friends in Australia. And I love scrolling through my News Feed at night before I go to bed.

2. Instagram

Instagram is my life. I love it so much. I use it for my blog (Instagram) and I have my personal one too. I don’t even know why I love it so much. Maybe it’s just the fact that it allows to take photos of my makeup and show my friends. I don’t know. It’s just my favourite.

3. Snapchat

Snapchat is another one I like for talking to my friends. Sending them silly faces. Showing them what I’m doing with my day. And my sister used to be obsessed with it so lots of the time it is a nice reminder of her.

4. Pinterest

Pinterest is a favourite because I can scroll through for makeup inspiration or quotes or just anything really. And I like the fact that I can pin posts to my boards for you to see. (Pinterest)

5. Twitter

Twitter is another favourite for blog purposes. It’s lets me tell you what I get up to without a long Instagram caption. It’s another that I stay up late on. (Twitter)

Sorry it’s so short. Wednesday’s post will be longer. Thank you for reading.

Product Review ~ L’Oréal Pure-Clay Detox and Brighten Charcoal Mask

Hey readers…

So as you would know if you read my April Top 5 blog post, this is a review on this face mask that I have been using and loving. It is the L’oréal Pure-Clay Detox and Brighten Charcoal Mask.

I bought this at Priceline for $20 (AUD) a couple of months ago and I’ve loved it since the first time I used it. I use this every second or third day after I have washed my face. I will have my skincare routine with what products I use, up in the next couple of months.

So, after I have rinsed my face with warm water and dried it completely, I use my fingers to apply this all over my face. I leave it on for 15 minutes and then I rinse it off and apply moisturiser.

I love this because you only have to use a little amount of product. This has lasted me ages even with continuous use. My face always feels so soft after using this and I have noticed that my complexion has gotten clearer and brighter (apart from the occasional breakout).

Overall, I love this and I definitely recommend it. I will be going to Priceline soon and buying the Purifying and Mattifying Eucalyptus Mask and the Exfoliating and Smoothing Red Algae Mask. Contact Me if you would like me to do a review on either or both of those ones.

Thank you for reading and always remember to do a patch test before trying out any new products.

April Top 5

Hey readers…

It’s finally the end of April which means it’s time for another April Top 5. Previously I’ve done my top 5 makeup products but this time it’s a little different. It’s not all makeup.

1. Benefit Porefessional

I bought this at the beginning of April and I’ve been using it every single day, on it’s own or underneath my makeup. It’s honestly one of the best pore filling primers I have ever used and I will be buying more when I run out.

2. Burt’s Bees Açaí Berry Moisturising Lip Balm

Love love love this stuff. It’s so cheap and it’s so comfortable to wear. It moisturises my lips and makes them so soft. I apply it when I start my makeup and then at the end when I’m ready to apply my lipstick, it acts as the perfect base especially for matte lipsticks.

3. Benefit Gimme Brow

Best brow gel I have ever used. It makes my brows look a lot more natural and it’s so volumizing. Plus, they stay in place all day.

4. L’Oréal Pure-Clay Detox and Brighten Treatment Mask

This mask is amazing! I’d love to tell you all about it now but I will have a review of it up next Wednesday.

5. Ed Sheeran Divide Album

I love this album so much. It’s amazing. I love every single song and it’s been playing in my car on repeat for weeks. If you haven’t listened to it yet, you have to. Best album ever. No faults with it at all.

Thank you for reading. Comment below what products you’ve been loving this month of if you love any of these.
